As a guy around your age (21), I can say this: whatever you feel when you receive attention from random women, it’s not love. You need to realize that.
What you feel is excitement, and infatuation. We all feel it in varying degrees when someone we’re attracted to pays attention to us.
But as I’m sure you’re aware, love doesn’t just “happen”. It grows. If you’re not that desperate, like you say, then you’ll meet someone eventually. And they’ll be awesome. And you’ll feel after a week like you love them. But you don’t. Don’t let yourself say it. Wait a month or two. If you feel the exact same way after that amount of time, then maybe, just maybe you love them. Then don’t say it for even longer: maybe another couple months. Unless you’re sure. (But then again, when are we ever?) Anyway, when you do say it, it’ll feel right, and she’ll feel it too.
